Nearly 200 officials checked opportunity passports at supermarkets in county centers. People who had already passed through the security of the supermarkets were inspected. Almost 12 thousand. persons.
There were 38 people who presented foreign passports. Pre-trial investigations initiated for everyone (anyone who kidnapped or without legal grounds acquired, kept, transported, sent, used or sold a natural or legal person’s stamp, seal, document or strict accountability form is punishable by a fine or arrest or imprisonment for up to six years) .
Most such criminals were detained in Kaunas and Klaipėda counties. In third place – Vilnius county.
None of them were involved in Telšiai, Tauragė and Šiauliai counties.
According to A. Paulauskas, the case law is already being formed, punishing persons who used foreign passports: fines of up to 5 thousand are imposed. There are already cases of arrest (20 days).
During the mass inspection in the supermarkets, officials were caught and 21 people without a mask. They are subject to administrative fines.
Police: Sanctions are also a threat to real passport holders
The police do not yet see centralized action through the use of foreign or forged passports, it looks more like individuals, “acquaintances, friends sharing.”
But officials warn that punishments are also pending for those residents who give their available passports access to potential offenders. Each pre-trial investigation will seek to determine how the person obtained the alien opportunity passport.
“If it is proven that someone has passed on the passport for the purpose of making their passport available to another person, then again, such possibly legitimate passport holders may be held criminally liable,” the deputy commissioner general said.
A. Paulauskas stated that the campaign took place all over Lithuania, mainly focused on county centers, because the concentration of shopping centers is the highest there. According to the number of violations, Kaunas and Klaipeda are in the lead, Vilnius is in the third place.
“There are several counties where no violations have been identified, namely Šiauliai and Telšiai counties,” said A. Paulauskas.
Offenders are of all ages, belonging to different social groups. Police officers wore civilian clothes during the campaign. There were no incidents.
“There were definitely no incidents, that campaign took place peacefully and calmly enough. But again, one of the goals of its organization was to check whether the security service officials were not in danger, which was a bit initiated by last week’s event in Vilnius, when a security service employee was injured, “said the Deputy Police Commissioner.
“Almost 12 thousand people were inspected. persons entering supermarkets and only 38 violations. On the one hand, it is gratifying that this is not a very mass phenomenon, but we see that it exists, ”said A. Paulauskas.
According to him, the police will continue to organize such actions without announcing the time or place.
