“Nearly 2 Million Subscribers Left Without Power in 12 Regions of Ukraine Due to Energy System Emergency”

In total, almost 2 million subscribers were left without electricity on Tuesday in 12 regions:

  • Vinnitsa region,
  • Dnipropetrovsk region,
  • Donetsk region,
  • Zaporozhye region,
  • Kyiv and Kyiv region,
  • Kirovograd region,
  • Nikolaev region,
  • Odessa region,
  • Poltava region,
  • Kharkiv region,
  • Khmelnitsky region,
  • Cherkasy region.

“This is the largest number of simultaneously de-energized consumers since February, when, thanks to the efforts of power engineers, in particular nuclear scientists, it was possible to add generation to the system and cancel power outage schedules,” the Ministry of Energy notes.

The department recalled that then the schedules had to be introduced due to large-scale Russian shelling and damage to the energy infrastructure.

Now the reason for shutdowns is not shelling

At the same time, on May 30, no massive enemy shelling and hits on the energy infrastructure were recorded.

As noted, now the reason for the outages was the desynchronization of the energy system of Ukraine due to the emergency that occurred at the operator of the electricity transmission system on May 30 at about 13:00.

As explained in the ministry, this led to emergency shutdowns and temporary de-energization of subscribers.

“Generation fully covers the needs of consumers, there were no plans to disconnect subscribers,” the statement says.

Mass blackouts

Recall that on Tuesday, May 30, in Kyiv, Kharkov, Poltava, Vinnitsa and Sumy there were sudden massive power outages.

As explained later in DTEK, the reason for the shutdowns was the operation of automation on the energy infrastructure. The power supply is currently being restored.

To establish the cause of mass shutdowns and prevent their recurrence, Energy Minister German Galushchenko instructed the State Energy Supervision Inspectorate to immediately create a commission to quickly study this situation.

We add that because of this emergency with electricity in Ukraine, there were temporary power outages in neighboring Moldova.
