Nearly 17,000 Covid vaccines will be assigned to BC prisons – La Voz de la Frontera

Neighbor 17 thousand vaccines against Covid-19 will be used to apply what will be the fourth booster dose to inmates, guards and staff of the Baja California Correctional Systemreported its owner María Elena Andrade Ramírez.

He stressed that the vaccination will begin in the middle of this month and that the doses have already been secured by the state Ministry of Health.

“About 17,000 or 16,000, more or less, need to be covered, because there are more than 13,250 detainees, plus all custodial and security personnel, plus administrative, operational and legal personnel.”

He also stressed that progress has also been made in the implementation of the flu vaccine and that there have already been two rehabilitation centers where vaccination days have been carried out.

The intention, the state official explained, is to achieve 100% coverage against both diseases, which can form a combined infection.

According to Andrade Ramírez, not a single case of Covid-19 has been reported in the prison system so far.
