TRIBUNNEWS.COM – The World Health Organization (WHO) emergency committee convenes to re-consider the disease monkeypox or monkey pox as a condition global health emergencyThursday (21/7/2022).
Meanwhile, African officials say they have established monkey pox as an emergency.
But experts elsewhere say that monkey pox light versions in Europe, North America and beyond make emergency declarations unnecessary even if the virus cannot be stopped.
British officials recently lowered their assessment of the disease, given its low severity.
Monkeypox has been entrenched for decades in parts of central and western Africa, where sick wild animals sometimes infect people in rural areas in relatively controlled epidemics.
Monkeypox in Europe, North America and beyond has been circulating since at least May among gay and bisexual men.

The epidemic in rich countries was likely fueled by sex at two raves in Spain and Belgium.
Some experts worry that these and other differences may deepen the inequalities in medical treatment that exist between rich and poor countries.
Now there are almost 15,000 cases monkey pox around the world.
The United States, Britain, Canada and other countries have bought millions of vaccines, none of which went to Africa, where the version monkey pox more severe has killed more than 70 people.
