A large quantity of 11,610 contraband “branded” goods was detained by the customs officers of the Lesovo customs point during an inspection of a truck. Undeclared sports equipment, scarves, bags were discovered – all with designations of world-famous brands.
The truck with Turkish registration arrived at MP Lesovo on 20.11.2024, around 22:40, on an inbound route into the country. In the customs control zone, the driver, a Turkish citizen with the initials A.D., presented documents that he was transporting group goods from Turkey to the Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands via Bulgaria. Officers from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department select the vehicle for a thorough inspection. In the course of the control actions with specialized X-ray equipment, suspicious areas in the cargo were identified. A physical check was carried out, during which a total of 11,610 textile and leather goods were found undeclared in the marked areas – sports equipment, scarves and bags, all with the logos of luxury goods brands.
The contraband goods were seized and pre-trial proceedings were initiated according to the inventory of TD Customs Burgas, coisit is conducted by an investigative customs inspector, under the supervision of the Yambol District Prosecutor’s Office. Criminalshere is qualifiedo according to Art. 242, paragraph 1, b. “e” from NC.
The detention was carried out within the framework of the joint anti-smuggling operation, with the participation of teams from the Customs Agency, DG Border Police, DG Combating Organized Crime and the National Revenue Agency.
