Nearly 100 soldiers of the National Army have been kidnapped for more than 10 hours by a group of people who identified themselves as members of the peasant guards in a rural area of San José del Guaviare. The soldiers, divided into three platoons, were detained while they were carrying out operations in the region.

According to preliminary reports, the soldiers were heading towards the villages of Puerto Nuevo and Puerto Cachicamo to meet with local merchants. However, they were unable to reach their destination as they were surrounded and detained by the alleged captors, who prevented them from leaving the area.

Authorities have attributed this kidnapping to Alexis Guerra, alias ‘Cantarino’, a member of the Jorge Suárez Briceño structure. It is presumed that ‘Cantarino’ had summoned the soldiers to the site as part of a strategy to detain them.

Despite the tense situation, it has been confirmed that the soldiers are still in possession of their weapons and personal belongings. It is expected that the military forces will arrive in order to secure the soldiers’ release.
