Arriving in this artisanal living room installed in a garage of a house located in Cugnaux (Haute-Garonne), this young woman quickly regretted her choice. “I saw traces of dried shampoo on the sink, the hair of many customers still tangled in the combs … It was disgusting,” says Ophélie.
A coming and going that intrigues the neighbors
For two years, a couple in their thirties living in Cugnaux had launched a clandestine hairdressing and beauty salon. Their activities had so far not been discovered, but the constant comings and goings of cars and customers in front of the house during this second confinement ended up attracting the attention of neighbors.
Convinced that this man and his partner were hiding an illegal secret, the residents notified the police. The Toulouse public prosecutor’s office asked the gendarmes to conduct further investigations. They quickly paid off.
Haircut, Colombian facelift, tooth whitening …
The soldiers of the community of brigades of Cugnaux, assisted by those of the investigation unit against illegal work and fraud (CELTIF) and the State services, disembarked on December 3 in this residential area. They were quick to discover a hairdressing salon installed illegally in a garage.
Between 2018 and December 2020, the husband would have taken care of advertising and offered many services on social networks at bargain prices. His wife, she would have performed various services. Indeed, in their establishment, customers had a wide choice, as long as they paid in cash … They could have their hair cut or dyed, but also benefit from a Colombian facelift, injection of acid. hyaluronic or dental whitening …
“For the facelift, you had to go upstairs,” says Ophélie, who was satisfied with a simple cut. “In terms of the service, I had nothing to say, but they clearly did not respect the standards concerning hygiene,” adds the Haut-Garonnaise.
At the end of this operation, the gendarmes of the Toulouse-Mirail company placed this 30-year-old woman and her 31-year-old companion in police custody, before leaving them free. However, they will no longer be able to continue their activities, since the authorities have seized all the equipment.
