Herere. The tomb of the druid is one of the curiosities of the sector, rich in heritage, where a walking and discovery circuit is being studied.

Located on the border between the communes of Ymare and Alizay, the tomb of the druid has still not revealed its secrets. Benoît Fillet, deputy mayor and Jean-Claude Leroux, great fan of local history, present this monument filled with mysteries. Placed in the middle of the fields, far from everything, it looks like a dolmen. Many objects from the Neolithic period have been found nearby.
An engraved cross
Father Cochet looked at the subject in his book published in 1871. According to him, it would be a stone table. A little later the Norman scholar Léon Coutil affirms that we are in the presence of a Christianized dolmen. Others think it could be a crossroads ordeal.
On this monument which dates from prehistoric times, a cross was subsequently carved around the 4th century. It would be enough to go under it to be cured of a back pain. It is also believed to have the power to heal rabid dog bites. Another legend has it that when you touch the table or the cross, you are sure to come back to die in your country. Finally, it is said that under this table, the Lord of Rouville would have hidden a golden sword. To date no one has ever found anything!
The architectural heritage of the town of Ymare is rich. ” We are thinking about promoting it and creating a walking and discovery circuit. We also plan to obtain the remarkable village label ” specifies Benoît Fillet. A working group has been set up to develop this project.
To visit the tomb of the druid, take the rue des Cheneaux, then take the long dirt road that connects this street to the road to Alizay.
