Near Rouen, the largest Nutella factory in the world sanctioned for safety breaches – Economy

The largest Nutella production plant in the world, located in Villers-Ecalles near Rouen, was fined a total of 24,400 euros for breaches concerning the security of this site of the Italian group Ferrero, a- we learned this Thursday from the prefecture.

On November 10, the inspector from the regional management of the environment and planning noted that 45 “pressure equipment, including several refrigerated ones, were overdue for periodic inspection”, according to two prefectural decrees of March 1.

However, “the absence of these regulatory checks does not allow knowledge of the condition of this equipment which (…) presents a high potential danger”, according to the text.

In view of these shortcomings, “it is not possible to ensure the required level of security”, concludes the prefecture. The first decree concerns 37 equipment resulting in a fine of 14,800 euros, the second targets eight equipment for a fine of 9,600 euros.
