Since mid-January, date of the entry into force of a new organization of the consumer products department, the PGCs, the Carrefour hypermarket of the Grand Sud site, Boirargues district, in Lattes, near Montpellier, half of the employees assigned to it carry out walkouts, once or twice a week.

It was still the case this Tuesday morning, at the call of the intersyndicale -FO, CFDT and CGT-, where 13 of the 26 employees of the PGC departments demonstrated peacefully for three hours, under the astonished and curious gaze of customers. “Since the application of a new PGC plan in all Carrefour de France, in mid-January, we have been penalized, because we are no longer considered as night workers, with all the advantages that this provides, in particular with the loss of the pain points that count for retirement. Suddenly, while we could claim to leave at 61, now it is postponed to 63, so we are the big losers, ”explains Louis Jourdan, a forty-something employee in the PGC department of this brand. His analysis is clear: “This reorganization is really inhuman, because almost all PGC employees have built their life and their family and professional future on night time slots, he finds himself facing enormous upheavals, difficult to manage and to manage. accept ”.
Louis Jourdan, however, points to a positive point: this new organization has made it possible to recruit some in the form of apprenticeship contracts. These employees who had to change their habits will renew their actions every week.
Solicited by Metropolitan, the management of Carrefour Grand Sud de Lattes has not yet responded. Rami Baitieh, boss of Carrefour France recently explained on social networks that this new organization of flows and work in stores was made to optimize the supply of PGC departments and customer satisfaction ”. A project called Top, acronym for Team Organization Project. This involves dividing the employees who supply the departments into three teams, front, back and data, in order to be more efficient in setting up products and therefore, ultimately, in the economic performance of points of sale.
