This Wednesday, December 8, at the Guingamp court, a sixty-year-old appeared after threatening to kill one of his work colleagues, within an association in the Pays de Lannion, in April. According to the victim, the defendant threatened to kill him one morning, at the start of the day.
During the hearing, a pattern of workplace tensions emerges. The president of the court then read two testimonies from colleagues present on site that day, corroborating the threats. But on the stand, the man denies the facts. “I never threatened to kill him, even though I was quite angry with him,” he admits. “There may have been some unfortunate words.” After this episode, he was laid off, before being reinstated. He was subsequently dismissed for serious misconduct. “Not related to this case,” specifies his lawyer.
“Traumatized”
“His dismissal was never contested,” for the victim’s lawyer, civil party. “My client was threatened with death, there are testimonies, they have not been extracted,” he slips. And added: “My client is traumatized, he was really scared.”
“When it’s word against word, it’s complicated to position yourself. There, this is not the case, we still have two witnesses and a context, that of tension at work, contested by no one”, launches the prosecutor, asking the court to enter into sentencing and requesting a citizenship course.
Requisition followed by the president, while the defense lawyer had pleaded for acquittal, pointing out “the discrepancy between the testimonies”. For the judge, “there are elements in the file, my judgment is reasoned”.
