At the beginning of the celebration, Father Chérel recalled his journey of sixty years of priesthood which led him to experience very diverse situations. After his ordination in 1961, he was first vicar teacher for 6 years at Epiniac, then for six years also vicar at Sainte Thérèse of Rennes.

He will make a brief stint of two years in Fougères, where he will be parish priest of Saint-Léonard, before being called to the function of episcopal vicar from 1993 to 2000. Then he will be parish priest of Chantepie and at the same time assigned to the chaplaincy of the Penitentiary Center. Then he will join the Saint Hélier Saint-Bernard team in 2002 and since 2009 Father Chérel has been with the Sainte Thérèse et Sacré Coeur team.
