92 girls and 52 boys make their cohesion stay near Chartres.
A first in Eure-et-Loir. More than 140 young people aged 15 to 18 arrived last night, Sunday June 20, 2021, at the Lycée La Saussaye, in Sours, in the agglomeration of Chartres (Eure-et-Loir), to carry out their cohesion stay there, the first stage of the Universal National Service.
Cher, a department of the Center-Val de Loire region, had been one of the SNU’s experimental departments. Available in each region of France, the SNU is intended for young people who wish to get involved in defending the values of the Republic and strengthening national cohesion. This year, 18,000 of them are taking advantage of this adventure.
“It is not the army, nor a colony”
Initially, the volunteers carry out a stay of cohesion, of fifteen days. Like here at La Saussaye high school.
It is not the army, nor a summer camp, nor the school. Education is the role of parents. Here, they are given the keys to the future, the notion of commitment to the benefit of the State.
Coming from all the departments of the Center-Val de Loire region, these girls and boys will learn community life. They are distributed by company, in different households.
