Near Carcassonne, Timmy Piétrasinski, world school handball champion

The town is pleased to count among its inhabitants a rising handball star, in the person of Timmy Piétrasinski, new world champion.

In the Pietrasinski family, handball runs in the veins from father to son and even from mother to daughter. Indeed, this Palajan family, well known in the town and lovers of sport, serves handball on a daily basis.

Two parents, two children, four licenses in total to live a common passion. Parents Martin and Delphine are part of the Palaja passion club. While Martin, as a former national level professional player, coaches the under-13 girls team every week. Delphine is secretary of the club and also plays in the leisure team. It was normal that the children, Nina and Timmy, caught the handball bug from a very young age. The two budding athletes were fully trained at Palaja. Nina also plays under 13 years old and has already won several departmental champion titles. But today, it’s Timmy, their son, who is talking about him!

A journey to the top

Trained at the club, Timmy Pietrasinski joined the Toulouse youth center in 2021, allowing him to follow high-level coaching for a year. Currently licensed by the Entente TUC Balma Handball, he has been playing, since 2022, within the team of the handball sports section of the Raymond-Naves high school. Along with other comrades on his team, Timmy had the incredible opportunity to participate in the ISF Gymnasiade 2024 in Bahrain. Indeed, for the young Palajanais, it was a source of pride to represent France at these school world championships. Winners of the first two matches against Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, Timmy and his teammates won the semi-final against Bulgaria to finally win the title of school world champion against the Bahrain national team on the score 29 to 21.

A pride for his parents but also for the Palajan club for even better results in the years to come.
