Lately, more and more online motorcycle taxi drivers are using electric motorbikes as their fleet. The electric motorbike is obtained by renting. Gojek, for example, rents out electric motorbike units for the use of its partners. Driver partners can register to get an electric motorbike unit.
For some drivers, renting an electric motorbike is considered more economical. Rohman, one of them, admitted that using an electric motorbike is more efficient than a gasoline motorbike. Rohman recently used Gesits to transport passengers. One day, Rohman is charged a rental fee of IDR 40,000.
“Rp. 40,000 per day is deducted directly from Gopay’s balance at 07.00-09.00 in the morning, it is automatically deducted,” said Rohman when talking with detikOto.
Rohman compared when he used to use conventional fueled motorbikes. He said he had to spend Rp 55,000 a day to fill up with petrol. Not to mention there are service fees and oil changes that are carried out at least once a month.
“Right now it’s much better, you don’t need to fill up with gas, you just have to replace the battery. If anything happens, just report it to Gojek and it’s free too,” said Rohman.
As for the IDR 40,000 rental fee, Rohman also doesn’t need to pay for charging the battery. He said he just had to go to a battery swap place that was available at a number of gas stations. Unfortunately, the place to provide swap is still limited.
Fortunately, the Gesits electric motor can reach distances of up to 100 km when using dual batteries. But if the battery is only one, then the distance reaches 50 km. In addition, the large torque of the electric motor at the start makes the motor seem to twitch when gassed.
“It’s just like this when you gas it, it blows, it’s like a new person can drive a motorbike,” said Rohman.
Sitting as a passenger in the back seat, when the motorbike ‘stirs up’ it is also quite felt and a little annoying, especially when crossing traffic jams. Meanwhile, if the road is smooth, there is no such disturbance.
As additional information, Gesits is equipped with a 72 Volt 20 Ah Li-NCM battery. Thanks to the battery, the motor can generate power equivalent to 6.7 horsepower and 30 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0-50 km/h can be reached in 5 seconds. While the maximum speed reaches 70 km / hour. The battery is combined with a Pulley Belt transmission.
