The Hamburg Journal has been broadcasting from its modernized studio since December 7, 2020. MCI equipped the new studio as the last of a total of four studios in three state broadcasting houses with new LED video walls.

New in Hamburg Journal Studio are two large LED walls that provide a fresh and modern visual language. Behind the scenes, automated direction enables even closer collaboration between editorial and production. The new studio also offers shared use with the news broadcasts NDR Info at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
“We are all very happy about the new start,” said Sabine Rossbach, director of the Landesfunkhaus Hamburg, and explains why modernization was urgently required: has changed rapidly. We want to meet the growing demands of our viewers and offer them real added value with new technology, a new backdrop and a more modern appearance. “
Most of the studio’s groundbreaking innovations can be found behind the scenes. “The fact that we are establishing even closer collaboration between editorial and production with the start-up of the automated direction will not be apparent to the users,” says Norman Meyer, Head of the Studio Image and Sound Department. “The fact that the sets for the programs Hamburg Journal and NDR Info are in the same studio also result in synergy effects that enable us to reduce the effort involved in producing the programs.”

“With the new look of the program, nobody should have to give up their favorite viewing habits,” promises Ulrich Strötgen, the deputy television director. “Of course we will stay true to our style in the Hamburg Journal. But it is also important to us that we adapt our appearance to current needs in order to present the many different topics of our city in a more attractive way in the future.
