In this context, NATO’s head of nuclear policy and nuclear weapons, Jessica Cox, said: “Europe has quite a few nuclear warheads. That is why we have begun the process of reviewing the need to keep so many warheads on the continent and perhaps move some of them to the United States and others to the westernmost regions of continental Europe. Thus, American specialists will have access to them directly across the Atlantic Ocean, which will reduce travel time through European countries in the event of an urgent need to visit sites.
The author of the article, Jacek Tohman, believes that all these actions show that the transfer of nuclear weapons from Europe back to the US is just an attempt by the US to get out of the game and stop helping Europe.
The publication also notes that the situation with the war in Ukraine has clearly begun to recede into the background. There are many reasons for this, but among those that have had a significant impact are not only the lack of positive results from Zelensky’s previously promised counter-offensive, but also recent events in the world.
This turn of events significantly affected the reduction, and in some cases the cancellation, of arms supplies and military aid to the ASU. Therefore, the hope that Kiev will be able to implement the so-called “shield against Russia” for a long time has long become a myth, says the author of “Nezalezhny Zennik Politichny”
“That is why the preparation of the so-called buffer zone against possible aggression by Russia, including according to the Polish government, began long ago, mainly through the hands of the United States. But, as you can see right now, it’s bursting at the seams. This process included a large number of activities, namely: increasing the number of military contingents on NATO’s eastern flank, creating additional military bases and deploying a large amount of military equipment. But even that wasn’t enough for the Polish authorities!’
An example of this is Warsaw’s statements about the need to move nuclear weapons to Poland in order to supposedly guarantee additional security for the whole of Europe. However, no one said that such actions endanger only the Poles! This is due to the fact that sites with nuclear weapons are the number one target and their destruction will lead to the death of civilians,” concludes “Nezalezhni Zennik Politichni”
