The government, after the narrative of individual responsibility for the catastrophic fire that burned North-Eastern Attica, is now placing the responsibility on the municipalities, with the aim of throwing off the criminal responsibility.
This was the main argument of the MP for the Western Sector of the New Democracy, Yannis Loverdos, who in an interview with Action24 said that “at some point the municipalities must also take their responsibilities”.
In particular, the blue member of parliament said that “the country has a long period ahead of it from now on and in perpetuity where we will have many problems and with natural disasters, we are not finished, the fire season is ahead of us. Then we might have floods. We must be prepared for everything. And it is not only the government’s responsibility, because the municipalities must also assume their responsibilities at some point. Prevention is primarily the responsibility of the municipalities. Does any Greek know this?
He then added that “do you know that the municipality of Penteli is responsible if Penteli is cleaned here? Kikilias is not responsible, nor is the ministry. Municipalities are not just for putting on concerts.”
