Kottayam: Mani C from Pala constituency in the forthcoming assembly elections. Kappan will contest as a UDF candidate. It is learned that the NCP will split and the Kottayam and Alappuzha district committees and a section of the leaders are with Kappa. However, the final announcement will be made after a meeting with National President Sharad Pawar. The crucial meeting is taking place in Delhi. Indications are that Kappan will not be contesting under the party symbol.
The UDF had intensified its moves to bring Mani C. Kappan closer to the front. Mullappally Ramachandran and K Muraleedharan welcomed Kappan back to the party. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala’s Aishwarya Kerala Yatra will arrive in Pala on Sunday. The captain will be accompanied by 1000 workers and 250 bikes in an open jeep.
After receiving Jatha captain Ramesh Chennithala wearing a shawl, the captain will announce his position. AICC General Secretary Oommen Chandy and Muslim League General Secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, Kerala Congress (Joseph) Working Chairman PJ. Joseph will also come to receive the captain. The NCP block committee, which will meet in Pala today, will make final preparations for the performance.
