Norwegian cruise company is also operating again in Asia, after ceasing to sail there three years ago due to the corona virus. The ship Norwegian Jewel will return to Tokyo in October right after Rosh Hashanah.
Norwegian’s Asia season will last six months, and will offer 16 itineraries in 11 countries, sailing from nine different ports of departure, including Tokyo and Yokohama in Japan; Taipei (Keelong), Taiwan; Bangkok (Lam Chabang), Thailand; Bali (Banoa), Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Malaysia. The cruises will last between 10 and 14 days. The season also includes sailings on new itineraries: NCL’s first sailings from Manila, Philippines and Seoul (Incheon), South Korea, as well as six new ports of call: Manila, Boracay, Palawan and Salumg, Philippines, Bintan Island, Indonesia, Hualien, Taiwan.
The itineraries also make it possible to continue the trip with land tours’ with fewer sea days, a longer stay in port and more overnight stays. With an average of less than two days at sea per sailing, up to 13 hours in destinations such as Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as well as extended overnight stays in places that come alive at night, such as Phuket, Osaka and Bali (Benoit).
“After more than three years, Asia is back in a big way!” says Kevin Bobolz, director of Europe Middle East and Africa. “We know passengers are already looking forward to returning to this stunning region, and as a smaller ship, Norwegian Jewel is the perfect size to explore Asia’s lesser-known ports, while offering all the options we know sailors love, including the hit disco and burlesque show, ‘Velvet.'”
