CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – As part of the campaign to increase the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 and decrease the spread of the delta variant, North Carolina now offers $ 100 cash cards at some vaccine sites to compensate for time and transportation costs to participants.
From August 4 to August 31, the cards will be available – while supplies last – to anyone over 18 years of age who receives the first dose at a participating site.
“Vaccination is the way that we will end this pandemic and we will be able to stop wearing mask,” said Governor Roy Cooper. “The delta variant is highly contagious and the vast majority of severe cases are occurring among the unvaccinated. We are using all the resources at our disposal to get more people vaccinated. We must not wait until it is too late.
In addition to the $ 100 card for those who receive the first dose, North Carolina continues to offer the $ 25 cards for those who take others to their vaccination appointment. They get a $ 25 card every time they take someone to a first dose appointment. This helps offset the costs for those helping family, friends, and neighbors locate and run a participating site. There is no limit to the number of times someone can take people out on a date; however, a driver will only receive one card at a time.
“This is an extension of our successful $ 25 cash card campaign,” said North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Under Secretary for Health Kody Kinsley. “It is part of the national effort to vaccinate more people and stop the serious illness, hospitalization and death caused by the delta variant that, unfortunately, is now dominant in North Carolina. We know that many people want to get vaccinated, but are concerned about taking time off from work or cannot afford transportation. The $ 100 cards will be of great help. “
More than 61% of adults in North Carolina have received at least one dose of the vaccine. However, those who are not vaccinated are at increased risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19 and the delta variant. They can protect themselves and others by getting fully vaccinated. They should also practice the 3 W until they get to get vaccinated.
Those interested in receiving a $ 100 cash card for the first vaccine dose or the $ 25 for drivers should call 888-675-4567 or find a participating location hereuí.
