NBU updated forecast of tariff growth

Tariffs will continue to grow in this and in the coming years

The Central Bank expects a rise in the price of electricity and utility tariffs for gas and hot water.

By the end of the year, tariffs for electricity, heating and hot water will increase in Ukraine. This is stated in Inflation reporte of the National Bank for July.

Thus, it is expected that in the third quarter electricity prices for households with differentiated tariffs depending on consumption volumes are expected to rise. Such an increase would add 0.3 p.p. in the consumer price index (CPI).

It is also expected that electricity will be among the leaders in price increases in 2022-2023.

At the same time, gas should not rise in price this year because of the annual tariff, which is valid until May 2022.

“However, tariffs for heating and hot water supply will increase, since they were not adjusted in 2020. Other housing and communal services will rise in price under the influence of higher wages and other production costs,” the document says.

Note the question electricity tariffs can decide today at a meeting of the NSDC.
