The Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo stopped the star LeBron James and with 44 points and 14 rebounds guided his Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday in a win over the Lakers 131-116 in the NBA, while Davin Booker with 35 helped the Suns to defeat the Philadelphia Sixers.
Giannis was phenomenal in the day to give the Bucks champions the important victory against the LeBron Lakers, who excelled with 27 goals.
Forward Khris Middleton seconded the Greek with 21 cards, followed by Jrue Holiday with 15 units and 10 assists.
Russell Westbrook also stood out with 10 points and 10 sacks, followed by center Anthony Davis with 22 and nine rebounds.
Previously, in Philadelphia, point Guard Booker scored 35 points and veteran setter Chris Paul totaled 16 goals and 12 assists to guide the Phoenix Suns in an 114-109 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, for Team West’s 44th win of the season.
The Suns recovered from a 14-point deficit to win for the fourteenth time in the last 15 games, raising their record to 44-10.
Booker overcame the personal duel against Cameroonian star Joel Embiid, who overflowed with 34 points and 12 rebounds for the Sixers.
Embiid scored his fifth straight game of 25 points and 10 rebounds, the longest run in the NBA in the last two seasons and the longest for a Sixers player since he scored six in a row in the 2018-2019 campaign.
Organizer Paul freed the Suns from a second half back and forth on the scoreboard when he converted one of two free throws for a 100-99 lead.
The Sixers then lost control of a defensive rebound and Paul quickly recovered the ball and scored a triple.
The Suns continued to score free throws (22 out of 24 in total) to maintain the lead, and Paul scored a distance shot for an advantage of 110-104, an advantage that remained until the end.
For the Suns, Mikal Bridges scored 23 points and Jae Crowder finished with 14 rebounds. The ‘Soles’ missed all seven triples in the third quarter, but nevertheless improved to 18-3 their matches against the Eastern Conference team.
In New York, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart scored 22 points each and the Boston Celtics scored their sixth straight victory by beating the Brooklyn Nets 126-91, who played without any of their stars.
Without astros Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving, the Nets were uncompetitive and conceded their ninth straight loss.
Boston came out aggressive and jumped fast to a 28-2 lead for a win that was never in doubt.
Harden missed his third straight game due to tension in the left hamstring. Durant remains out for a sprained knee ligament and Irving is still not eligible to play at home because he is not vaccinated against the coronavirus, he can only do so in away games.
Jayson Tatum contributed 19 points to the win as the Celtics continued their good run and beat the Nets in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
The Nets were considered the favorites to win the East with their ‘Big Three’, but have lost 10 out of 12 since Durant was injured in mid-January. They have just returned from a five-game winless journey through the West, which ended with back-to-back beatings in Utah and Denver also without Harden.
A score from Blake Griffin put the Nets on the board at first, but the Celtics responded with a 14-0 offense that put the Net on the board 28-2.
The Celtics ‘ lead in the first half peaked at 67-39 with a Smart triple, and they closed 69-43 at halftime.
Smart totaled six three-pointers and Brown finished with nine assists and seven rebounds.
