The NBA has long tablecloths, with the opening of a new season, which will be special for the championship, as it will celebrate 75 years of life.
The start of the 2021-2022 Season is a milestone for American sport, which saw the birth of the contest some time ago, with the intention of having a quality league.
When the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks contest the first ball, the anniversary will be consummated, a special moment that will be framed for eternity.
The league was born in 1946, when the first matches of the contest were disputed, an organization that received the name of Basketball American Association, a championship that sought to fill the stadiums on the east coast, in order to always give operation to the pavilions.
Walter Brown, owner of the Boston Garden; Al Sutphin, owner of the Cleveland Arena, and Ned Irish, president of Madison Square Garden, were pillars in the creation of the tournament, along with the help of Maurice Podoloff, then president of the hockey league, the AHL.
A total of 11 franchises gave life to the competition, having as its main ingredient the participation of the best players in the area.
The fact that each team had a headquarters made everything more attractive, since the franchises went to visit their rival’s house.
The BAA assumed the competition model that the hockey championship had, so a long season was played, and then the playoffs were played.
The first match that was officially held was the one between the Toronto Huskies against the New York Knicks, at the Maple Leaf Gardens in the Canadian city.
The 11 institutions that gave life to the league were the Washington Capitols, Providence Steamrollers, Huskies, Chicago Stags, St. Louis Bombers, Cleveland Rebels, Detroit Falcons, Pittsburgh Ironmen, Boston Celtics, New Knicks. York and Philadelphia Warriors.
Little by little some franchises were added. In fact, in 1949 the name of the organization was changed, to adopt that of NBA.
Since its founding, only three of the debuting teams have remained, with the Warriors, Knicks and Celtics being the only survivors.
Since then the NBA has had different players, who have marked a before and after in its history.
