The NBA has suspended eleven Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic players after a massive brawl during the two teams’ game on Wednesday.
The biggest punishment went to the two protagonists of the fight: Pistons guard Killian Hayes, who got three games, and Magic center Moritz Wagner, who got two.
The league also suspended Detroit guard Hamidou Diallo and eight Orlando players for one game: guards Cole Anthony, RJ Hampton, Gary Harris and Kevon Harris, forwards Admiral Schofield and Franz Wagner, and centers Mo Bamba and Wendell Carter Jr.
Wagner, Hayes and Diallo were all ejected late in the game after a push that set both benches on fire in the second quarter, which the Pistons won 121-101.
Detroit led by nine points when Moritz Wagner pushed Hayes out of bounds while chasing a fumble down the sideline.
Diallo runs up and pushes Wagner from behind who, after another shot from behind by Hayes, ends up in the middle of the Pistons’ bench.
His teammates, including those on the bench, then invaded the rink to come to Wagner’s aid, for which they were punished.
Hayes will begin his three-game suspension Friday at the Chicago Bulls, in which Diallo will also serve his suspension.
Wagner’s two-game suspension will begin Friday when the Magic host the Washington Wizards at the Amway Center.
One-game suspensions for Orlando’s remaining players will be served on a staggered basis to ensure, per league rule, that Orlando has eight players available in upcoming matches.
