Despite the successful operation, there is no exact schedule for Leonard’s return. As a rule, a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament after the operation can be expected to result in a downtime of at least three months.
Leonard missed the crucial phase of the NBA playoffs
Leonard had himself in the fourth game of the Western Conference semifinals series hurt between LA and the Utah Jazz. Despite the failure of their top scorer, the Clippers prevailed after six duels against the Jazz and forced the victorious Phoenix Suns to play another six games in the Western Conference finals.
For the 30-year-old, it is the most recent injury from various health setbacks. Leonard was never able to play more than 74 games in one season. In April, the All-Star had to sit out of the regular season due to a foot injury.
In his second season with the Clippers, Leonard averaged 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 52 regular season games.
The Clippers forward holds a player option for the next season as part of the three-year deal he signed with LA in the summer of 2019.
