Cleveland Cavaliers (11-21) – Atlanta Hawks (13-18) 112:111 (BOXSCORE)
- The Cleveland Cavaliers can still win! After ten defeats in a row, the Cavs won through a strong final phase against the Hawks, who in the end did pretty much anything wrong that could be done wrong. Trae Young missed a runner 11 seconds to go at 111: 110 from Hawks’ perspective, but Cleveland did not take a time out.
- Instead, Collin Sexton pushed the pace and ran on a completely unsorted guest defense. The guard moved into the zone, laid across to Lamar Stevens (8) and he was able to climb up to the game winner dunk, because Danilo Gallinari was sleeping. Atlanta had 4 seconds left, but Tony Snell couldn’t get rid of a throw.
- Young was the top scorer of the guests with 28 points and 12 assists, but his efficiency left a lot to be desired (9/27 FG), and he left a lot behind in the closing stages. Kevin Huerter contributed 22 points, while John Collins (13) was no longer used in the second half because of a suspected concussion.
- Atlanta couldn’t find an answer in crunchtime to Sexton (29, 9/16 FG), who wore his colors at the end. The Young Bull got help from Jarrett Allen (13, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks), Darius Garland (17, 8 assists) and Dylan Windler (15), who hit all of his five threesomes from the bench. It was the Cavs’ first win since February 1.
Orlando Magic (13-19) – Detroit Pistons (9-22) 93:105 (BOXSCORE)
- Ever heard of Saben Lee’s name? The Detroit Pistons two-way player became the match winner in Orlandoby pouring the Magic 21 counter (8/11 FG) and giving the Pistons another win after three defeats in a row. It was only the tenth NBA game for the Guard, who was selected with the 38th pick in the 2020 draft.
- Detroit took revenge for the defeat two days ago and the victory was never really in danger. The guests quickly led in double digits and finally moved away in the third quarter. Orlando never got a leg on the ground, hitting 37.5 percent out of the field and 45 percent in the zone.
- Magic’s two best scorers, Nikola Vucevic (20, 9/22 FG, 9 rebounds) and Evan Fournier (14, 4/14), never found their rhythm and Terrence Ross (13, 4/12) also built after a good start strong. Mason Plumlee (7, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks) and rookie Isaiah Stewart sealed off the zone for the Pistons well.
- On the other hand, the Pistons distributed the scoring. Jerami Grant (17, 6/15, 7 rebounds, 6 assists) was more than just a scorer this time, and newcomer Dennis Smith Jr. (14, 6/9) showed good approaches. Coming from the bank, Josh Jackson (18) could also recommend himself again.
Brooklyn Nets (21-12) – Sacramento Kings (12-19) 127:118 (BOXSCORE)
- Even without Kevin Durant, the Nets continued to groove and celebrated their seventh win in a row. This time Brooklyn also did a mandatory task seriously, even if Sacramento never gave up and stayed in the game until the end. James Harden put on his sixth triple-double in the ranks of the Nets with 29 points (9/22 FG), 11 rebounds and 14 assists and was once again an exemplary director.
- However, he had to share the honors of the top scorer with Bruce Brown, who sank eleven of his 13 throws and to the delight of the Nets bank, nailed two threesomes into the basket. For Kyrie Irving, 21 points (8/22 FG) and 7 assists in the box score were recorded.
- It got tight again in the fourth quarter, as De’Aaron Fox scored 15 of his 27 points (9/18, plus 8 assists) in the final section. After a 14-point deficit in the meantime, it was only 109: 110 from the Kings point of view, but then the hosts flexed their muscles and brought the game to safe haven with a 14: 1 run in around four minutes.
- At Sacramento, six players scored double digits, including all starters. Marvin Bagley (12, 10 boards) and Richaun Holmes (18, 11 rebounds) recorded double doubles, the strong rookie Tyrese Haliburton just missed this as sixth man with 23 points (9/20 FG), 9 assists and 3 steals.
