Chicago (AP) – The German national basketball players Moritz Wagner, Isaiah Hartenstein and Daniel Theis change clubs within the North American professional league NBA.

Theis (28) and Wagner (23) are part of a complicated multi-team swap deal that turns Theis into the Chicago Bulls ‘player and Wagner into Theis’ successor with the Boston Celtics. Hartenstein (22) is sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers by the Denver Nuggets. According to the first media reports, the teams involved gave official confirmations for the deals on Thursday, the last day of the transition period in the world’s best basketball league.
The departure of Daniel Theis from the Boston Celtics, who played for the team since his move to the NBA in the 2017/2018 season and had played an important role in the system of the NBA record champions in the current and last season, is particularly surprising. Berlin-born Moritz Wagner, who was handed over to the Chicago Bulls by the Washington Wizards and sent from there to Boston in exchange with Theis, is now supposed to take over this task in the medium term.
Wagner played for the Wizards for the past one and a half seasons. He was previously under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers in his debut season. Hartenstein is also in his third NBA season. After two years for the Houston Rockets, he only joined the Nuggets before this season, which has now secured the services of JaVale McGee. Like Hartenstein, McGee is active as a center, but has a lot more experience as a three-time champion. In Cleveland, Hartenstein is now part of a very young team.
