Philadelphia 76ers It went from candidate to disaster in just one series. He was eliminated in the semifinals of the Eastern Conference of the NBA Playoffs 2021 after losing the seventh game to Atlanta Hawks. Ben Simmons he had a lot to do with it and he was one of the worst on the team.
If you have to be honest, except Joel Embiid Y Seth Curry, who played mostly well in every game, the entire Philadelphia squad disappointed, including the team’s first-year coach, Doc Rivers. But with Simmons, there are bigger doubts.
The problems with the Australian are the lack of effectiveness and ability to translate his success from the regular season to the Playoffs. Unfortunately, his lack of outside shooting and free throws make him a disadvantage for his team in the postseason, especially in the later periods. What worries is the null improvement in that aspect and the lack of confidence that he was seen against Atlanta.

Ben Simmons’ disastrous Playoffs
To begin with, a statistic that shows his lack of confidence is that in the last four games of the series against Hawks he accumulated 34 minutes between all the last quarters and had zero field goals attempted. Not only that, but the closer he was, had a dunk served, and preferred to pass the ball unusually. (video above)
The other statistic, and probably worse, is that it had an effectiveness percentage of 34.2% free throws in the Playoffs. Between players with at least 70 attempts, is the lowest% in history, outperforming historically bad shooters (but elite players, unlike Simmons) like Shaquille O’Neal, who 37.4% in 2006, and Wilt Chamberlain (38% in 1968). It’s time for the point guard to evolve in the NBA, or stop the demons in his head from influencing his performance.
