NBA player Bismack Biyombo will donate his salary to build a hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Phoenix Suns player Bismack Biyombo performed one of the best actions of the year. And it’s not on NBA courts. The Congolese pivot will donate his annual salary for the construction of a hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo, more than 1.3 million dollars, he announced in a video for his foundation.

Through this project, the basketball player wants to pay tribute to his recently deceased father, for whom he had chartered a medical plane for Turkey. It was after this experience that the idea of building a hospital in his native country germinated.

“My salary this year will be used for the construction of a hospital in the country, in order to give hope to those who no longer have it, those people who cannot transfer their family members elsewhere. I wanted to be able to give them better conditions so that they can have this hope of seeing theirs live”, he explains in words translated by USA basketball.

The hospital, which will bear the name of Biyombo’s father, will aim to “ensure that we can save the maximum number of livesdetails the player. I saw how people were trying to survive in Congo. We have already done a lot by renovating hospitals and clinics. But I think it’s time to think a little bigger and build something that will help people.”
