Apparently Derrick Rose won’t be playing for the Detroit Pistons much longer. As The Athletic reports, a trade of the MVP from 2011 is imminent.
The New York Knicks, for which Rose already played in the 2016/17 season, are a likely target. In New York, the former superstar would also be reunited with his ex-coach Tom Thibodeau.
Rose and the Pistons agree that a trade would be in the best interests of both parties. Detroit is in the middle of a rebuild and wants to focus more on giving young players opportunities. Rose, in turn, would like to help a team that is fighting for the playoffs.
According to the report, there have already been several requests for Rose, who has not played since January 30th. The Knicks are in “active talks”, and the Clippers were previously traded as interested parties.
The 32-year-old has averaged 14.2 points and 4.2 assists in 22.8 minutes this season. His two-year contract ($ 15 million) expires after this season. Players can be traded this season until March 25th, but an earlier solution can be expected at Rose.
