Marcus Morris was sent off in Game 6 between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks after a tough foul on Luka Doncic. Doncic was angry afterwards, Clippers coach Doc Rivers can not understand the excitement.
Doncic had a clear run for the board and started to lay up when Morris fouled the Mavs superstar hard from behind at the end of the first quarter and brought him to the ground.
The fouled Slovenian stood up straight away and stormed towards Morris. Only the intervention of Dallas center Boban Marjanovic prevented a direct confrontation. The Mavs’ referees and coaches quickly broke up the subsequent pack formation.
Clippers-Coach Rivers verteidigt Morris
The clippers forward conceded a Flagrant Foul 2 and had to take a shower early. Referee Scott Forster classified the offense as “unnecessary and excessive contact”.
His coach Doc Rivers couldn’t quite understand the excitement. “I think he was kicked out because he is Marcus, to be honest. He played against the ball and his hand swung through, that happens in every game,” he said.
But he was pretty much alone with that. “It was a terrible foul. It was the second game in a row that he did something like this. I didn’t want to believe he did it on purpose in game 5, but after today … I don’t want to deal with players like that Doncic commented on the scene, referring to the kick that Morris gave him in Game 5.
