Los Angeles (AFP) – LeBron James wrote a new page in the history of the NBA, becoming the first player to break the 39,000-point barrier when he led the Los Angeles Lakers to victory over the Utah Jazz 131-99 and reach the playoffs of the “N-Season” tournament with the cup system.

Within the competitions of this new tournament, the thirty clubs were divided into six groups of five, and each team will play a total of four matches this month to determine the six leaders who will be joined by two teams in the quarter-finals.
All matches of this new cup are counted within the NBA League and regular season standings, with the exception of the final match on December 9 in Las Vegas.
James (38 years old) needed only five points to reach this number before the match, and he etched his name in the record books with a three-pointer in the first quarter.
James, who surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar last season to become the league’s all-time leading scorer, greeted the fans when announcing his achievement.
“I never really had the opportunity to understand what that meant,” James said of his latest achievement. “There have been a lot of great players in this league since the beginning of time, and a lot of great scorers. To be able to be first at anything is always great. It’s always cool.” A wild moment for sure.”
James’ achievement produced a festive atmosphere at Crypto.com Arena, where the Lakers continued to win and reach the quarter-finals of the In-Season Championship.
James finished the game scoring 17 points, while Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 26 points, 16 rebounds, and four assists.
In another match, Kevin Durant also achieved a milestone in the scoring meter, as he rose to 11th place on the list of NBA scorers during Phoenix’s victory over the Portland Trail Blazers 120-107.
Durant needed 14 points to surpass Elvin Hayes on the scoring charts, and he actually took him down as needed in the first quarter. He finished the game with 31 points for Phoenix, raising his career scoring total to 27,331 points.
