The Los angeles lakers were dumped out of the NBA playoffs in the first round by the Phoenix Suns, and it seems as though there could be ramifications.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis struggled with injuries in the latter part of the season, but even upon their return it was clear that the Lakers lacked a primary option at either point guard or shooting guard.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith recently reported that the Lakers have reached out to the Portland Trail Blazers about a possible trade for Damian Lillard, although given their lack of draft picks and tradeable assets would make a deal difficult.
Another name that has come to the table is Washington Wizards point guard Russell Westbrook, as reported by Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz.
The 2017 NBA MVP has another two years – and 91 million dollars – left on his contract after this season, but a move for Westbrook seems more likely than Lillard leaving the Blazers.
Westbrook could be moved to the Lakers in exchange for Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and two second-round picks in 2023 and 2024, Swartz claims.
