The NBA announced that it is investigating an allegation that Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Josh Giddey had an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
In a since-deleted post, an anonymous social media user said that a girl who appeared in videos and photos with Giddey was a student starting high school at the time she dated the athlete.
The social network account was later deactivated. Australian Giddey turned 21 in October.

“We are investigating this,” NBA spokesman Michael Bass said Friday.
Giddey had no comment Friday when asked about the issue at practice.
“Yes, I mean I understand the situation obviously,” he indicated. “But there are no further comments for now.”
When pressed, he said, “I understand the question, guys, I completely understand what you want to know. But for now I have nothing to say.”

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault called the matter personal and added that he had no comment.
Giddey is averaging 12.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists for Oklahoma City, which has started the season 11-4.
A first-round pick in the 2021 draft, Giddey was named to the All-Rookie Second Team that season. Last season, he averaged 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists. At this summer’s World Cup, he averaged 19.4 points per game, the most of an Australian team that went 3-2.
