Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges was fined $50,000 for throwing his mouth guard into the Atlanta Hawks’ court and hitting a young fan in the face.
The incident occurred Wednesday in the game in which the Hornets fell 132-103 to the Hawks and were eliminated.
Bridges, who was having a disappointing performance (12 points), was sent off for protesting to the referees six minutes from time, when they were down by 31 points (112-81).

The forward made his way to the locker room amid boos. A fan yelled at him very close and Bridges threw his mouthpiece at the man, but ended up hitting a fan.
“I was upset about the decisions… (But) I definitely shouldn’t have done it,” Bridges said after the game,” Bridges said.
“I was targeting the guy who was yelling at me and I hit a girl… I take full responsibility and I will take whatever consequences the NBA imposes on me,” he said.
