NEW YORK (AP) — The NBA fined the Brooklyn Nets $25,000 Thursday and assistant coach David Vanterpool $10,000 for interfering on a play the day before in his team’s road win against Washington.
Vanterpool was on the sideline and deflected a pass with 5:42 remaining in the final period of the game the Nets won 119-118 over the Wizards on Wednesday.
The Nets gained possession of the ball and were credited with a steal.
Washington’s Kyle Kuzma, who was blamed for the fumble, was furious and censured the judges after the game. Referee Ben Taylor said that none of the judges saw the deflection of the ball from the field.
