NBA, Drake and DeRozan: the truth about Dissing.

Che Audrey Drake Graham, in arte Drakewe knew he was a smoking hot character. His passion for basketball and for the Toronto Raptors, of which he is Global Ambassador, they have led him more than once to be the protagonist of more or less funny skits with NBA stars. We can remember him trash-talking Green, Perkins, KD and Giannis, or heckling opposing players during key throw-ins at Scotiabank Arena. The same Adam Silver during an interview he stated that Drake was an excellent resource for the movement, but that he should get his act together.
Although the Canadian rapper’s temper has weakened in recent years, on the occasion of the retirement of Vince Carter‘s jersey, during halftime of the match between the Toronto Raptors and the Sacramento Kings; ha directly attacked DeMar DeRozan new purchase of the Californian franchise:

“If they put up a banner for DeRozan, I will go and take it down myself.”

Away from the microphones he did not spare some slightly more serious insults towards the player who wore the Raptors shirt for nine years and with whom he had a good friendship.

But where does all this hatred come from?

It would seem that the trigger is DeRozan’s support for the rapper Kendrick Lamarwith whom Drake has had an ongoing feud for years but which was fueled with bars between 2023 and 2024. The player appeared in the music video for “Not Like Us”, song in which Drake is accused of pedophilia; furthermore DeMar and Westbrook also took the stage with Kendrick Lamar at the concert held on June 19, 2024, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, which was also attended by other NBA players including James Harden and LeBron James.

“It’s a long climb to the banner, wish him good luck”

This is DeMar’s response to a journalist who informed him of the Canadian rapper’s post-match statement. Lou Williams also took the basketball player’s side in a recent interview, defining Drake’s exit as an act of selfishness:

“We all know how much DeRozan has contributed to the culture and movement of the Toronto Raptors and this is worth much more than a feud between artists”

And what do you think?
