Jason Tatum hit a crucial three-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to lead the Boston Celtics to a 110-107 victory over the Philadelphia Seventy Sixers. This, and the Celtics topped the league with 44 victories and 17 defeats, while the Sixers occupy third place in the Eastern Division. Gaylen Brown scored 26 points for the Celtics, Tatum added 18 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and distributed six assists, Derrick White scored 18 points, and Al Horford made five three-pointers to add 15 points.
Embiid, who scored 41 points for the Sixers, starred in addition to obtaining 12 rebounds and five assists, and this is the 14th time in his career that he has scored at least 40 points with ten rebounds and five assists or more. James Harden added 21 points and Tobias Harris 19 points, but the Sixers’ five-game winning streak stopped.
In another meeting, the Western Division leaders, the Denver Nuggets, lost 112-94 to the second-placed Memphis Grizzlies in the same division. Memphis ended a streak of four straight wins for Denver, who scored less than 100 points for only the seventh time in the season.
The Utah Jazz also came from a 14-point deficit to win 118-102 against the San Antonio Spurs, with an assist from Lauri Markkanen’s 27 points.
On another court, the Indiana Pacers dominated in the second half, defeating the Orlando Magic, 121-108, and the New York Knicks, 128-106, defeated the New Orleans Pelicans.
