NBA cancels Lakers game – message popped up

The world mourns basketball superstar Kobe Bryant. Shareef O’Neil also reported on Instagram. It shows: A message that Bryant sent to him just a few hours before his death.

After the tragic death of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, the North American professional league NBA canceled the championship game scheduled for Tuesday between Bryant’s former team Los Angeles Lakers and city rival Los Angeles Clippers. It is not yet certain when the game will be rescheduled.

“This decision was made out of respect for the Los Angeles Lakers, the organization is deeply saddened by the loss of its legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people in a helicopter crash on Sunday,” the league statement said.

The 41-year-old died in the helicopter crash last Sunday morning in Calabasas, California. In addition to the ex-NBA player, there were several inmates in the helicopter who also died, including his 13-year-old daughter.

Message to Shareef O’Neil

Colleagues and fans around the world also mourned the basketball superstar. A day after his death, Shaquille O’Neal’s son, Shareef, now published a photo of a chat history with Bryant on Instagram. It reads a message that Bryant is said to have sent to the 20-year-old just a few hours before his death.

“Are you all right, buddy?” Says the message O’Neil received from Bryant at 8:19 am (local time). His answer at 10:58 a.m .: He is currently working on finding out his next steps. “How are you?” Wrote O’Neil. But the answer was unsuccessful, because Bryant’s helicopter is said to have had an accident that same morning at around 10:00 a.m.

“I wish I hadn’t slept late so I could have spoken to you,” O’Neill wrote in his Instagram post. Bryant was not only a great uncle but also a mentor for him, it went on.

Bryant had played his entire NBA career for the Lakers from 1996 to 2016, winning five championships with the franchise. Bryant was 41 years old.
