The traditional draft normally takes place in June, but has been postponed to November due to the corona virus. The virus also forced the NBA to organize the lottery virtually for the first time.
As was generally assumed, Anthony Edwards (19) has become the number 1 pick. The Georgia Bulldogs guard had an average of 19.1 points per game in the past NCAA season and can now show his tricks with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
“This is an indescribable feeling. For myself and my family this is a very emotional moment,” Edwards noted in an initial response.
The Golden State Warriors got to pick second and set their eye on Memphis center James Wiseman. With the arrival of Wiseman, the team is filling a gap under the ring, but there was also bad news from the Warriors, due to a new injury from sharpshooter Klay Thompson.
Thompson, who completely missed the previous season due to a serious knee injury, may have sustained another serious injury during a training match. There is a fear of an Achilles tendon injury, which would immediately jeopardize the title chances of the Warriors. Several NBA stars have said on Twitter that they are keeping their fingers crossed for Thompson.
