The NBA has expansion plans for the coming years and everything seems to indicate that the preferred destination to add more and better income would be in the Old Continent.
Commissioner Adam Silver said the idea was primarily motivated by economic considerations, as many teams end up running into losses.
The chosen destination is Europe
For some years now, sport and finance have gone hand in hand. While it is true that the NBA is the main basketball league in the world, several franchises have encountered serious financial problems.
This discussion is taking place within the Association, but everything seems to indicate that in the future there could be an expansion that would further boost the basketball business outside the United States.
“We will take the time to evaluate it. We do not want to damage the foundations of the League. We are aware that many investors lose large amounts every year.”

The commissioner said that it is a great opportunity for the NBA to reach Europe and acknowledged that many franchise owners plan to invest in new markets taking advantage of the quality of basketball in some European leagues.
What would happen to the Euroleague if the NBA arrives?
At the moment there is no clear plan of action from the NBA, but this risky move could bring about major changes in European basketball. In principle, the idea is to create a league designed by the American association and the first inquiries are already underway.
FIBA (International Basketball Federation) is seeking to work together with the NBA to bring basketball to every corner of the planet.
If a new competition is created in Europe, a dispute would begin for the teams to be part of a new format and stop belonging to the Euroleague. The truth is that the dispute over the business is more current than ever and we will have news in the future.
