Sport and Solidarity return to PisaSaturday 16 November at 8.45pm at lo Arena Garibaldi Stadiumon the occasion of 50 years of Shalom the great event starring la National Singers e Shalom Champions of the Heart.
The proceeds of the evening will be donated for the creation of a school in Madagascar and for the purchase of a monitor for the MRI room of the Cisanello Hospital.
The National Singers and the Shalom Movement they have been collaborating for over 10 years and today even more so, a word like “Shalom” fits into our history in such a significant way.
Il Shalom Movement was born in 1974 in Staffoli, in the municipality of Santa Croce Sull’Arno (Pisa) diocese of San Miniato as a voluntary association dedicated to solidarity and the training of young people on the initiative of a young priest, Andrea Pio Cristiani. The aim of the Shalom Onlus Movement is to spread a culture of peace, brotherhood and solidarity towards the least of the Earth. In particular, the primacy of culture, training and work is affirmed as a fundamental right of every human being. Going beyond the concept of charity, all the interventions of the Shalom Movement in Italy and around the world aim to contribute to giving dignity and self-esteem to the most vulnerable through initiatives linked to training, work and the full enjoyment of human rights.
The National Singers has more than 40 years of history, a solidarity project unique in the world. The Nic was established in 1987 and was recognized by the President of the Republic in 1996, although in reality its roots date back to 1969 when Mogol was asked to help a friend purchase a Green Cross that had broken, thus anticipating the charitable projects of world rock like Live Aid. The team played over 720 matches in front of over 75 million spectators, in all Italian stadiums, and raised funds amounting to more than 120 million euros entirely donated. The National Singers team also has an international dimension with matches played for example in Sarajevo in Bosnia in 1998 and in 1999 in Warsaw. In 2000, in Rome she met a group of Israelis and Palestinians in favor of an initiative for peace in the Middle East and in 2019 she took to the field at the Al-Khader stadium in Bethlehem to support, once again, the value of sport and music to convey messages of peace and solidarity. The demonstrations and solidarity projects supported are of great importance: they have led to the creation of initiatives and social structures in countries such as Iraq, Israel, Palestine, Sarajevo, Albania, Somalia, Kenya, Namibia, Romania, India, Russia, Guatemala and Congo. Countless projects and causes supported in favor of Aism, Aido, Admo, Ail, Agbalt, Cesvi, Ciai, Cefa, the International Red Cross Committee, Emergency, Unicef, FAO, WWF, AMREF alone to name a few.
