The National Association of Grain Producers (NAGA) marks the entry into its 18 years with the intention of a new revolution in agriculture. This is the motto with which the association started yesterday the 12th Agro seminar in the Albena resort.
Despite or precisely because of the series of problems that befell the sector in the last 2-3 years, NAZ intends to clear the Augean stables of unresolved tasks accumulated over the years.
The chairman of the association, Iliya Prodanov, listed some of them at the opening of the seminar: Land reform for security in the relations between owners and users of land; adequate attitude to water resources; connection between science and business; cooperation and markets… “These are not wishes, but actions that we are sure we will take,” said Iliya Prodanov.
After the congratulatory words to the strongest branch organization in the country, which has unions in a large part of the regions in the country, the Minister of Agriculture, Georgi Tahov, also presented news. The intervention admission for new farmers starts today.
By the end of December, the “Agriculture” fund will pay out the funds for income for sustainability, as well as for other interventions – tied support for animals, eco measure 10 and biological measure 11 under the PRDP, subsidies under the marine program.
By the end of this year, several interventions from the Strategic Plan will be opened with a total budget of 1.5 billion. leva. Among them is the intervention for non-agricultural activities, in which priority will be given to health care and social projects.
In 2025 there will be two receptions under the intervention for investments in agricultural holdings, Deputy Minister Lozana Vasileva said later.
Georgi Tahov opened up about the most significant problem of farmers. Recalling the indifference of several successive governments to irrigation, which occurred after the looting and destruction of irrigation facilities, he emphasized that work is already underway to restore the system with the help of mainly European funds. The minister announced that he had sent a motivated letter to the Ministry of Finance, with which he requested that 1.2 billion be pledged in the state budget. BGN for next year, with which the irrigated areas will be increased by over 2.5 million acres. Takhov recalled that at the beginning of 2025, an intervention for rehabilitation and creation of new channels will be opened with a budget of over 100 million. euro. The beneficiary will be the state “Irrigation Systems”.

Iliya Prodanov presented the traditional NAZ award in the name of Ivan Genchev Tanev, founder of the Thracian Union of Grain Producers, to Sasho Georgiev, a Bachelor of Field Breeding student from the Agrarian University of Plovdiv. The association will support him with the tuition fee for his Masters in Plant Protection.
