ISLAMABAD – If the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) wins the next general election in Pakistan, the party’s president and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will be the prime minister, his brother and current prime minister Shahbaz Sharif has said. He said that Nawaz Sharif, who is in London for treatment, will return soon and will face legal action.
Nawaz, who went to London for treatment with the permission of the court in 2019, while serving a 7-year prison sentence in the Al-Azizia Mills corruption case, has not returned to the country since. He is barred for life from holding public office following the 2017 Supreme Court verdict in the Panama Papers case.
