Navigating the Constraints: Using Lunch Boxes in the Workplace and School

In recent years, the lunch box, the new name for the bowl, has come back into fashion, driven by the craze for home cooking and a certain distrust of industrial dishes. However, its use may come up against constraints. For example, in a company with less than 50 employees, the employer is only required to offer a location dedicated to meals. On the other hand, he does not have to install a refrigerator, microwave or even a tap. You will therefore have to adapt your meal to the available appliances.

Regarding the school, the rules are a bit vague. There is an obligation for the establishment to accept that a child comes to the canteen with a lunch box, but only if he benefits from an exemption linked to medical reasons. Apart from these special cases, it is not strictly forbidden by law to give a bowl to your child, but he will have to be able to take his meal in compliance with the internal regulations of the establishment. If he is not allowed to eat outside the canteen and is not registered there, this risks blocking the situation. Some establishments, especially in the private sector, choose to authorize bowls and access to the restaurant against a financial contribution lower than the price of the canteen. It will then be up to the parents to ensure that they provide a balanced meal.
