In an article from October 21, “24 hours” showed how the 3.5% reduction in cantonal income tax voted by the Grand Council would be reflected on payment slips. One element was missing for a real comparison: putting the tax savings into perspective with the overall amount paid by taxpayers. However, it is quite easy to indicate this amount, the tax reduction representing 3.5% of the total cantonal income tax.
Let’s take the example of a married couple with two children. With 150,000 francs of income and 200,000 francs of wealth, the saving is around 400 francs, but on a total amount of 12,000 francs of cantonal income tax! By living in Lausanne, this family pays more than 20,000 francs in tax, including federal and municipal tax…
Obviously a person who pays more taxes will benefit from greater savings, since the tax is progressive. For a tax cut to better and more effectively target a certain category of taxpayers, it is the scale that should be modified, because it reflects the contributory capacity with its progressiveness. Unchanged since the 2000s, it might be time to think about modifying it so that it takes into account the evolution of society and the current economic and social situation.
It’s a fact: the tax burden in the canton of Vaud is one of the highest in Switzerland. A change is more than welcome: it is necessary. The Council of State and the Grand Council have taken a first step by adopting this first reduction which benefits all taxpayers in the canton. Other measures will be essential to relieve the middle class. We are looking forward to them!

Health Insurance
The announcement of health insurance premiums is every year like in the story of the barber and his poster in the window: “Tomorrow we shave for free.” The average insured person, not being able to take charge, takes his troubles patiently. As long as you get shaved, at least by the cheapest shaver, no
Let’s enter the jungle… Do you prefer the BenefitPlusFlexmed model or BenefitPlusTelmed, Smartmed, Qalimed, Pharmed, Optimed, Multimed, Netmed, MedDirect, Casamed, or even the Dupont and Dupond of MedCall and CallMed insurance? “White bonnet or white bonnet!”
The care, very innovative, is on the rise; more trendy than the san, too old-fashioned. Would you like to take some Combicare, Telcare, EGKcare, Smartcare, Primacare, Managedcare or Vivacare? Supreme refinement: combine with et care then add a hint of Call and Tel, like salt and pepper to a tasteless meal. Here are CareMed, EGKTelcare or the more refined VivaCareMedCall and Sana24MedCall.
It’s here care trenches for the insured. “Help, helpwith». San go more!
Will informed consumer choice and competition between insurance companies naturally curb the increase in costs? Talk about a choice! Talk about a solution!
So what? We resign ourselves and we pay! The alternative? A single fund, under public law, with models and simplified procedures, rather than this jungle of 44 private insurers? Twice, the Swiss refused it. Why make it simple when you can make it complicated? Suva, founded in 1918, insures 2 million workers in Switzerland against accidents. Why wouldn’t that work for health insurance? At the point where we are…

Gaza
It only took a few days for the abominations perpetrated by Hamas to be justified by extremists of all stripes outraged at the “collective punishment” inflicted on Gaza. According to them, it was the only possibility to make the voice of the Palestinians heard in the face of Israel’s intransigence… Disemboweling babies, raping women, beheading children, these are obviously glorious and justified actions for these barbarians thirsty for power sheltering behind a misguided faith!
Do the media tell us about the dozens and dozens of Gazans summarily executed by Hamas, when the latter tried to flee to the south for shelter, terrorists financed by Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the Iran? Obviously not! This is dangerous for our geostrategic interests… We cannot alienate these important contributors to the economy who buy luxury items and football clubs by the billions… Abject hypocrisy!
They would be wrong to be embarrassed by European cowardice and submission! How can we blame Israel for trying to eradicate Hamas, which executed members of Fatah in Gaza, itself responsible for cowardly attacks against its nationals and moderate Palestinians, murdered because they sought peace with the Jewish State? ?
In this XXIe century, we are witnessing religious manipulation by deadly and medieval dictatorships, trampling on human rights, incapable of understanding the world of tomorrow. Whatever the cost, let us refuse to make a pact with these terrorists, in the name of our dignity, freedom of thought and to guarantee peace.

Shouldn’t we realize that revenge begets revenge and that it has no end? Should we not realize that the more we oppress a people, the more desperate and therefore violent their reactions become? In Gaza we are reaching heights of cruelty.
Let us remember the strong words of Sébastien Castellon (born in 1515): “To kill a man is not to defend an idea, it is to kill a man.” I dream of hearing Israelis say: “Palestinians, we have heard your despair, we realize the cruelty of your situation. We must now stop this endless cycle of violence because our two peoples are suffering needlessly. There’s room for two in this land of milk and honey. You stop your attacks and we stop ours. We are committed to letting you live freely in the country of your ancestors. In return, you undertake to let us live freely in the country which is also that of our ancestors.
I dream of hearing Palestinians say: “Israelis, we have heard your pain. We undertake to accept your presence in the part of Palestine which has been granted to you. This territory of milk and honey is big enough for our two peoples, let’s live in peace!”
The 75-year cycle of violence and hatred will disappear on its own once freedom and economic prosperity return. It will be long and difficult, but one day the wounds will heal and these two peoples will finally be able to live in peace.

Concerns the article “Children too must live with their deceased» (“24 hours” of 1is November).
I am writing to you regarding your article on the publication of “Papy, will you still be there?” Two child psychiatrists explain that you should not be afraid to talk about death with children. I appreciate that this is said by specialists!
In fact, I worked more than ten years ago in Friborg at the Swiss Puppet Museum. There were also puppet theaters. One day, a play about death was on the program. And I then received several telephone calls from parents who were scandalized at the possibility of talking to the youngest about this topic. According to them, it was too violent.
It is worth noting that this was the only time I saw the theater only half full.
The story was very cute with a walk between a dying grandfather and his grandson. As the story progresses, the patriarch shrinks to the point of ending up like a grain of rice in the hand of his little one. Suddenly, he asks him if he too smells this smell of vanilla. But, at that moment, the little one realizes – horrified – that he has just sucked in his grandfather. The latter reassures him: this is what I wanted. So, I will always be in your heart.
In conclusion, nothing aggressive! Personally, I too was horrified… to see that parents who let their toddlers kill anything in video games or languish in front of a screen without even checking the content come to howl wolf!

Taxation
I want to congratulate the tax cut activists on their success. For 60% of Vaud taxpayers with a gross income of 75,000 francs: a gain of 50 francs; for 35% of taxpayers with a gross income of 150,000 francs: a gain of 900 francs; for 5% of taxpayers with a gross income of 1 million francs: a gain of 3,000 francs (these are projections).
Which reassures me, if the UDC’s initiative to reduce the radio TV license fee is accepted, a gain of 10 francs per month will be added to my gain on taxes. During these holiday seasons, instead of believing in the promises of the right to increase the purchasing power of low-income families, it is better to trust Santa Claus.
