Costa Rica was this Sunday against the United States as part of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. A match which involved 1 player from Paris Saint-Germain, Costa Rican side: Keylor Navas (35-year-old goalkeeper). He held during this meeting, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Costa Ricans which allowed them to finish in style even if they could not have bettered a good 4th place in the group, and therefore the jump-off for the World against the barrage of Oceania.
The Costa Rican team:
Contreras
Benette- Aguilera – Galo – Mora Montoya
Lawrence – Vargas – Waston – Chacon Salas – Martinez
Navas.
Faced with the 2nd in the group (out of 8), almost already qualified (barring a 6-goal defeat), Costa Rica had to finish as well as the play-off place was already assured and they needed a small miracle to have more. It was done very well despite a logically difficult match: 12 shots to 15, 5 on target to 6 and only 34% possession on the Costa Rican side.
A very good victory, even if Costa Rica remains in 4th place in its group. The United States finish 3rd and are therefore qualified.
It should be noted for PSG a very great match, but also a knee discomfort at the end of the match which led to a replacement. We can only hope it’s nothing serious.
