Pamplona already has one new work by artist LKN on the walls of its streets and squares. On this occasion, the drawing represents the Pamplona actress Clara Galle merged with the body of the goddess Ceresbased on a sculpture by Bartolomeo Ammannati (1511-1592).
The mural is located in the heart of the Old Town of Pamplona, in the Plaza Consistorial. The work is in the form of a classical sculpture and in the words of its own author “serves as a forum for reflection on the female body and its representation in today’s society.”
The title of the mural ‘Clear and pure’ is an “irony in the face of the expression ‘chaste and pure’, “The work is traditionally linked to the idealized image of a decent and submissive woman. While in the 16th century the nude was a consecrated art form, today the female body remains a terrain of controversy, censorship and sexualization. I use Clara’s face, together with the body of the goddess Ceres, to point out this paradox,” LKN explained. In her opinion, “the work is a reminder that “Art, whether from the 16th or 21st century, serves as a platform to question norms and challenge structures that limit women’s autonomy and power.”
With this new illustration dedicated to Clara Galle, LKN expands its collection of works featuring mainly Osasuna footballers and coaches, politicians and singers to the world of cinema.
