The Kremlin characterizes the claim of Alexei Navalny’s wife as baseless, Yulia Navalnaya, that the 47-year-old Russian opposition leader was poisoned with the nerve agent, Novichok.
The Kremlin statement also clarified that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not watch Navalny’s video statement, in which she said she would fight for a free Russia and called on her supporters to oppose Putin more fiercely than ever.
In the video posted on social media, Alexei Navalny’s wife makes a clear reference to her partner’s murder and points out that the Russian government is hiding his body.
“We know why he killed him”
“Putin killed my husband. Three days ago (Russian President) Vladimir Putin killed my husband Alexei Navalny. Putin killed the father of my children,” the Russian’s widow pointed out defiantly. By killing him, “Putin wanted to kill our hope, our freedom, our future,” he estimated.
“By killing Alexei, Putin killed half of me, half of my heart and half of my soul,” she continued. “But I still have the other half and that tells me I have no right to give up. I will continue the work of Alexei Navalny, I will continue to fight for our country.”
“I want to live in a free Russia, I want to build a free Russia. Stand by my side, I ask you to share the rage with me. Rage, anger, hatred towards those who dared to kill our future. It’s not a shame to be afraid, it’s a shame not to do something, it’s a shame to let yourself be terrorized,” he said.
“We know exactly why Putin killed Navalny three days ago. We will tell you soon. We will certainly find out who exactly carried out this crime and in what way. We will say names and show faces,” he said.
I will continue the work of Alexei Navalny. Continue to fight for our country. And I invite you to stand next to me. pic.twitter.com/aBOIvcYHHk
